In response to needs identified by the Community Council Housing Task Force, a community housing development corporation (501c3) was formed to provide the community with a vehicle to approach an affordable housing crisis in creative ways. Although the Community Council administers the work of the housing corporation, a separate board of directors that includes 1/3 representation from the low-income population governs The St. Charles County Housing Development Corporation. The corporation has the structure to apply for state and federal funds that encourage the partnership between the nonprofit and private housing developers.

The mission of the St. Charles County Housing Corporation is to promote development of decent, affordable, and accessible housing for low to moderate income residents of St. Charles County and residents that are disabled, elderly, or have other special needs.
