Our partners at Operation Food Search say it best:
Operation Food Search is celebrating 30 years of feeding the hungry. Although our community roots were strong in St. Louis, many people had not heard about our mission in St. Charles County when the decision was made to open up a 2nd food distribution center in Wentzville three years ago. When we began to network in the community, everyone kept pointing us toward the Community Council. After our first meeting, we understood why.
The Community Council provides the leadership that helps bring the community together. Being a member of the Community Council has helped Operation Food Search not only to establish our second location but also to plant our roots in St. Charles County. It has provided us the opportunity to network, to work in collaboration with other non-profits and to build relationships in greater ways than we could have done on our own.
One of the most rewarding experiences has been working side by side with the Community Council and Sentralized on the Saturday Jubilee Food Drive. The Saturday Jubilee, a one day food drive orchestrated with thousands of volunteers, has produced over 200,000 items during the past 2 summers to help local food pantries. This is an example of the power of working together and the impact that it can have on our community.
"Creating Connections….Building Community" is more than a “tagline” under the Community Council name. It is the true commitment and passion of each of the staff members at the Community Council. Operation Food Search is just one of the many organizations that value the relationship that has been developed with the Community Council and respect the work that they continue to perform in our community.
